Product To Try: Glossier Generation G Matte Lip Balms
*Affiliate links and PR samples used. Full disclaimer details here. It’s been a minute since I spoke much of Glossier. It’s not that it hasn’t had a place in my routine (because it has; behold my love: Super Bounce. I’m on my third bottle). I just don’t think of them. Which is kinda the point behind Glossier’s brand. The products are no fuss, fast, and functional. I’ve accumulated four of the six Glossier Generation G lip colors and have been waiting patiently to share them with you for the spring/summer because I think these are the best easy-to-wear, no-makeup-makeup lip products on the market. They’re a nice change of pace from your traditional summer glossy lip, yet a far cry from the thick, heavy matte liquid lips. Continue reading for swatches and a discount code!
Glossier Generation G | An Overview
Described on Glossier.com as ‘diffused, sheer matte goodness,’ the Generation G matte lip balms are “a new kind of lip color that gives the look and finish of just-blotted lipstick, without the blot.” I couldn’t have put it better myself.
Packaged in sleek, simple white packaging similar to a Softlips lip balm, Generation G matte lip balms are waxy, stay put and provide varying levels of color depending on the shade you choose. For me, LIKE provides barely a hint of baby pink, whereas ZIP is a sheer yet very noticeable poppy red.
The four Generation G matte lip balms shades I own are LIKE (light baby pink), CRUSH (sheer pink berry), LEO* (muted nude brown), and ZIP* (poppy red). My two favorites are CRUSH and LEO for every day. LIKE is great for no-makeup days and ZIP is a perfect way to get comfortable wearing red lips without jumping head first into a full pigment red lipstick.
The formula is matte, yet still has a bit of waxy slip to it along with hydrating ingredients like Blue Agave and Safflower Oil, so it never feels dry. When it wears away, it wears off evenly just like a tinted lip balm. Shades like CRUSH and ZIP leave a bit of a stain behind which can be nice, but otherwise, they are a unique product that I think everyone should have in their collection (at least one shade).
Obviously, I totally recommend adding one of the Generation G’s to your order, but if you’re curious about a couple other things I’d add, try Super Bounce serum (good for all skin types to plump and hydrate the skin), Coconut Balm Dot Com, and Soothing Face Mist.
Let me know if you’ve tried much Glossier and what you’re favorites are! A sunscreen is coming out soon (if it’s not already live) and I TOTALLY plan on picking that up along with a couple of their Cloud Paint blushes. TBD!
