Last week, I attended a super fun beauty event at Carrie Ann, a local women’s apparel and doggie accessory boutique in Houston. Attendees enjoyed complimentary mini makeovers, hair styling by a local blow dry bar stylist, wine, snackies, Botox (yes, an actual nurse was on site), and much more!
I was able to interview Rebecca, owner of Regal Beauty, professional makeup artist in attendance, to ask her a few of my most pressing makeup questions; like what lipstick shade is the most universally flattering for the fall. I am so glad I had a chance to connect with Regal Beauty by Rebecca, who was a pro at polishing up several faces at the event in record time. As much as I love watching YouTube beauty videos and reading other beauty enthusiast blogs, it’s nice to get the advice ‘straight from the horse’s mouth.’ Here’s our little Q&A:
1. What’s the most universal fall lip color most women can use to update their look?
The most universal fall lip color that most women could use to update their look would have to be red lipstick. Red lipstick is such a staple item. Every woman should have one in her makeup bag. I suggest Ruby Woo from Mac; the color is the perfect shade for all skin tones.
2. Favorite feature to play up when doing a makeup look?
My favorite feature to play up would be eyes. You can be versatile and expressive from natural to dramatic, depending on your mood that day.
3. What is your favorite latest beauty trend – strobing, liquid/matte lipstick or contouring?
All three trends have been around for years. Beauty artists have reinvented each look to their own liking. I have to say my favorite is strobing; I love glowing, youthful skin.
4. Favorite makeup brush of all time?
My favorite makeup brush is the #217 from Mac. It can be used for both eye shadow and blending [creamy] concealer.
I also got to connect with a few familiar vlogger and blogger faces from the Houston area. It was great to chat with the lovely ladies in person and I look forward to connecting again. We had a blast sharing stories and local must-check-out spots!
Are you ready to rock a red lip this season and/or already own Mac’s Ruby Woo – comment below! I’m thinking a deep, vampy red/burgundy may be in my future…
