If you’re reading this blog, you’re probably a beauty enthusiast of some capacity. One of the guilty pleasures of loving makeup is when you finally ‘hit pan’ on a product or scrape that last bit of lipstick or gloss out of the tube. Finishing our beauty products is just so satisfying! In honor of finishing products, I kicked off a Project Pan Empties 2018; rounding up a list of makeup I intend on completely finishing this year.

I hate to be a downer, but I think collectively 2017 was not our best. Personally for me, it was a year of struggle for many reasons. But I have a few wonderful things to be thankful for in 2017: we moved back to my ‘home’ in New Jersey to be closer to friends, celebrated a few amazing weddings, and my husband and I bought a dental practice (he is a dentist)! As far as beauty goes, I was very lucky to be exposed to many stand out brands because of Brighter, Darling and meet a lot of incredible lady bosses from all over the country. I want to share 15 of these top 2017 beauty favorites today, say goodbye, and look forward to a new year in 2018.

During the blur of moving across the country the last month or so, I picked up a few new makeup items. Some were budget buys and some were the highest beauty splurges in the history of my makeup buying existence. We’re talking $3 concealer and $80+ eyeshadow. I don’t discriminate when it comes to beauty. All are welcome in my collection. I’ve used several of these for a few weeks now and I wanted to share my thoughts thus far. A couple are already absolute favorites and must-tries. Some I wonder if my head was on straight when I purchased them. A few weeks ago, I was approached by a beauty boutique I had never heard of before – Cos Bar. They invited me to host a little makeup party with a few Houston ladies to learn more about their services, the brands sold, and why my readers may love it as much as I (now) do. Naturally, I’m a hard-facts-kinda-gal, so I drove 45 minutes north to their location in Houston – Cos Bar The Woodlands – to do some preliminary ‘research.’ This research included what this place looked like, the products offered, if the staff was helpful and humble, and why I would want to shop here versus the abyss that is my local Sephora/Ulta/Nordstrom/Neiman Marcus.

Today, I wanted to share some of my best lip balm for dry lips and compare them against each other to ultimately crown a lip balm battle winner. I’ll also be sharing some of my worst balms at the end, just to ensure we’re covering all bases here.
In a good lip balm, I’m looking for long-lasting, deep hydration; a low-level of shine and minimal (if any) scent. Let’s get to it!
