Is this even a secret anymore? My love for all things Charlotte Tilbury makeup? No, no, I do not think so. The higher-end line makes some of my favorite makeup for gorgeous, soft, glamorous looks and has never disappointed me yet. Charlotte Tilbury just released a line of comfortable-to-wear, long-lasting, matte liquid lipsticks called Hollywood Lips. The day they launched, I spent about an hour deciding which shade I’d try first and settled on Rising Star – a warm pink (are you even surprised?!). FIRST OF ALL – DON’T FORGET TO ENTER MY FALL BEAUTY + STYLE GIVEAWAY INCLUDING $200+ WORTH OF STUFF, LIKE MY FAVORITE KENDRA SCOTT EARRINGS, A FULL SIZE OF ESTEE LAUDER ADVANCED NIGHT REPAIR AND MORE. ENDS FRI. AUG. 25TH!
Hollywood Lips currently come in 10 shades. Charlotte nailed the packaging in a sleek, see-through rose gold plastic tube so you can see what shade you’re grabbing. The product itself is formulated with lots of lip-nourishing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, collagen, and beeswax to hydrate, condition and protect. The wand has a unique crescent-shape that is meant to hug the contours of your lower lip with ease. Flip the wand in the opposite direction and use the tip to line/define then fill in your upper lip.
Hollywood Lips has a mousse texture. It’s whipped and airy – not at all liquidy or creamy. It is slightly drier than my favorite ColourPop Ultra Satin lips. To be honest, it reminds me so very much of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. It even takes just as long to 100% dry down like the Soft Matte Lip Creams. Just when you think it’s never going to set, you’ll find your lips to feel 95% dry. However, they’re never totally flat matte dry. The formula is very comfortable to wear but it is not my longest lasting liquid lipstick (simply not possible when it has just a smidge of that hydration to it). You have to pick your battles: apocalypse-surviving-drier-than-the-Sahara lips or comfortable, soft matte, hydrated lips.
I get about six hours wear time before this starts to fade and I do not notice any scent/fragrance.
Is this my favorite product from Charlotte? Definitely not. Is this a matte liquid lipstick for those with thinner or more mature lips or those who want to test drive a flattering matte formula – absolutely. I trust Charlotte Tilbury to create gorgeous lip colors that will flatter all skin tones in a formula that is always comfortable. If you’re in the market for a liquid lipstick that isn’t drying and comes in complementary shades for a variety of skin tones, I give Hollywood Lips two thumbs up.
However, I won’t BS you – if you can find a color in the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams that you like, it’s nearly the same look (NYX’s formula is slightly more sheer and I don’t personally care for the fruity fragrance).
Will you be trying Charlotte’s newest launch? I’m actually really interested in seeing what people are thinking of her new contour wand (comes in light/med, med/dark).
