As much as I love my neutral, slightly surfer/bohemian casual style, there’s just something about the cuts and fun prints of Lilly Pulitzer that sometimes really catch me by surprise. Although I don’t think I could ever rock one of her brightest pieces, the recent collaboration with Target stirred up quite a frenzy. I actually only slept for one hour on Saturday night – spending all evening on Target.com and their mobile app scouring to “check out” multiple times to no avail. I ended up at the Golden Gates of Target at 7:45am Sunday morning, and managed to escape with two out of the six things I really wanted – along with a couple items that happened to call my name which will be perfect additions to my Hawaii Honeymoon in three weeks. More about my Lilly Pulitzer for Target experience after the jump!
Sephora has two major sales throughout the year – one around November, where VIBs get 20% off their entire purchase(s) for about 3-4 days and again in April, where VIBs get 15% off for about 3-4 days. If you’re a VIB Rouge, the sale has already started for you, and you get 15% off your purchases in store or online through 4/21. If you’re just a regular Beauty Insider, you’ll get 10% off from 4/17-4/20.
This year’s VIB sale starts today (!!!), 4/16 through 4/21. My cart has been stocked, restocked and it’s ready to pull the trigger as soon as the clock strikes 12. Let’s discuss my Sephora April VIB Sale wish list and recommendations that won’t disappoint…
About a week ago, I was fortunate enough to be invited to meet with the goddess herself, Charlotte Tilbury, along with an intimate group of wonderful press and fellow bloggers in Houston. This event was akin to meeting Santa for the first time and waking up on Christmas morning to makeup, sparkles and happiness everywhere.
We had the opportunity to play with Charlotte’s entire collection, as well as, some items yet to be launched in the United States. Naturally, I left with quite a bit of items to play with and test over the past few days (more to come on that). For now, I wanted to share with you some of the tidbits I learned from Charlotte about her products, brand, and passion for beauty. More meeting Charlotte Tilbury after the jump!
“I wanted to change women’s lives.”
Charlotte Tilbury on why she started a makeup line
Spring has officially arrived! I don’t know about the rest of you, but as a New Jersey girl experiencing her first full spring/summer in Houston, Texas, it certainly crept up on me real fast and I am NOT ready for it. However, a pretty pop of color on the lips really helps to get me prepped for shorts and flip flops. A little extra cardio doesn’t hurt, either. Here’s my current top summer lipsticks for the season…
If there’s one thing I have a certain “type” for, it’s
Channing Tatum lippies. Lord knows I’ve certainly dated a variety of lovely gentlemen before settling down, but lipsticks are pretty analogous. I tend to gravitate towards warm-toned, peachy-pink-nudes with a pretty sheen for a quick, out-the-door kind of look that will transition well through the seasons. These top everyday lipsticks should suit a wide variety of skin tones from fair to medium/deep!
The enigma of a beauty/makeup lover: having sensitive, reactive, dehydrated, combination, acne-prone, temperamental skin. It’s the WORST! I am taunted daily by individuals who can slap on drugstore foundations or switch their skincare routines and experience “amazing” results. If I were to do that, and when I *do* do that, I get to experience something a little less than amazing. I pretty much revert back to my 13-year-old self (pre-foundation days). Not cute.
But I know my baseline now. I have curated a group of products that will get the job done and calm my face down in a two to five day period if and when I decide to stray. A plus? It’s mostly drugstore items! Keep reading to find out what my everyday sensitive skincare routine is…
Let’s play a game where you match the swatch with the brand of concealer in the photo above. I’ll reveal the answers at the end of this post after showing and explaining daily photos of how these contestants performed being used exactly the same way. Here are the swatches:
It always seems that when one product runs out, they all follow suit. I seriously feel like I’ve had to repurchase everything in my arsenal lately – from body wash to mascara, eyeliner to a foundation. Let’s get to the details on my mini makeup haul because there are some goodies!
For those of us who like the feel of a good scrubbie-dub on the face, let me bring some light to the matter on why I’m doing an Origins Modern Friction review, particularly if you have skin issues and/or sensitive skin like me. I’ll admit, I am a skin care snob because my skin is extremely reactive and sensitive. This doesn’t mean I only purchase expensive skin care. I’m very big on simple drugstore face products like CeraVe and Cetaphil. But when something doesn’t work for me – whether it’s $3 or $300 – it’s gotta go.
Let me preface this review by saying I used St. Ives Apricot Scrub pretty consistently since middle school. I had read and heard advice from several dermatologists to be extremely gentle with my skin; leave the abrasive exfoliation to the professionals by way of peels or microdermabrasion. If I absolutely needed a bit of buffing action at home, use an infant wash cloth (I still like this method).
January certainly flew by for me! I had a few makeup shopping sprees with gift card assistance and some sprees without gift card assistance because … YOLO. I love that my January 2015 makeup favorites include a variety of high-end and budget buys, though.
Anyway, back to the important stuff. Makeup. I had a couple totally random surprises, some rediscoveries and some highly-hyped fail safes in this month’s lineup.
