Every weekend, I have a relaxing three-step evening ritual to deeply cleanse my pores. As someone with the most sensitive combination skin ever, it’s very important for me to be diligent with my skin care and I figured I may as well share my recent How To Deep Clean Pores routine.
Recently, I was super intrigued by the NEW Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub (FUN ALERT: this product is a straight up fizzing powder) and Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser when I saw it at my local Target. I also read that my Pretty Little Liar, Shay Mitchell, is the new Bioré ambassador this year and, LBH, she’s not called SLAY Mitchell for nothing. If it’s good enough for the gorgeous Shay (a bona-fide beauty lover herself), it’s certainly good enough for me. I decided to give it a shot and have been obsessed with the results. Continue reading to find out exactly why I love to deep clean, gently exfoliate and treat my skin with these new gems…
The biggest motivators for me when picking up these products was A) I obvi needed a new face wash, B) Target is the best place ever for all of my affordable beauty products, but C) the whole baking soda idea really works. It’s such an effective cleansing ingredient and the particles are so gentle at exfoliation. Add the fancy technology behind it to make it safe to be used on the face and it made total sense to me. Since I wear makeup daily, I’m a harsh critic for skin care and its claims, so rest-assured, these products passed the Steffanie-test.
Deep clean skin and remove makeup with the Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser. I typically wash twice – once to remove makeup and another time to actually cleanse my skin. This new face wash is safe for daily use and helps de-gunk pores gently. I noticed my skin feeling smoother in just two days using this morning and night. Pat dry.
My favorite part of skin care is always exfoliation! The Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub is the coolest skincare product I’ve seen at the drugstore probably ever. It’s a completely dry powder in this cute little bottle with a flip top cap that activates and fizzes up with water! From what I read before purchasing, this new technology is totally new to the mass market and very affordable at your local Target.
The Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub is amazing for my sensitive and combination skin because it exfoliates the random dry spots on my face while simultaneously cleansing my oilier areas deep down. You can control how much scrubbing you want by adding more or less powder. I use about a quarter sized amount in my wet palm, gently press my hands together and begin applying to my face. It immediately begins to emulsify into a thicker, fizzy paste.
As you gently use circular motions around your skin, you’ll notice the slight fizzing feeling – which feels very cool. The first use, I wasn’t sure if it was really exfoliating (I was used to a more abrasive scrub), but literally after two days of using, my skin is so much smoother without redness or being completely parched.
I’ve been using the Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub about three times a week with no irritation. It’s very concentrated, so just a quarter-sized amount gets the job done.
*TIP: Don’t leave this in your shower unless you can guarantee it won’t get wet. If water gets in the bottle, you may ruin the powder.
Pore strip time! I have religiously been using the Bioré Deep Clean Pore Strips for almost 10 years (the last five years consecutively). They truly work and if you haven’t ever tried these, what are you waiting for? I personally like the Deep Clean ones best. Using these weekly keeps any gross blackheads at bay on my nose and as someone who wears makeup daily, this entire routine is paramount in keeping my skin at its best.
I finish up with whatever treatment I may need that night (a clay mask, hydrating mask or sheet mask), moisturize and rest my deep-cleaned face!
Have you tried any of these products yet? Thoughts below!
Happy Pore Cleansing,
