Since moving back home to New Jersey, I’ve been a busy little social butterfly constantly (especially because it’s summer in NJ… which we take VERY seriously here since warm weather months are limited). Most social events are near the beach and heavy makeup (especially black eyeliner) do not bode well against the humid air and warm breezes. I also want to make the most of my day and get out of the house quick, so this effortless summer makeup look using six products gets the job done fast and give maximum summer glow.
Effortless Summer Makeup Look
Ok, so I think you may be able to tell I have a bit of a tan and my current go-to BB Cream is a smidge too pale (working on that… ordered the darker shade over 4th of July weekend during a sale), but besides that here’s the routine:
((For skincare when I’m really pinched for time, I wake up and use a cotton round soaked in the Erborian Micellar Water* (which also works great at night at removing eye makeup gently) all over my face to remove any build up/excess oil/products from my face. I slap on the Glossier Invisible Shield Sunscreen on days I know I’m going to be in the sun (because I load up on the SPF… don’t want any wrinkles)!))
Put this photo next to RESTING BITCH FACE in the dictionary. 😉
For makeup, I use my Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream (used shade 27 here but awaiting shade 31. For reference, I’m probably an NC42 in MAC right now) all over the face using my fingers. I find fingers give the fullest coverage with most BB Creams. I add a little extra to my notoriously dark circles, but I don’t fuss too much over it because it’s summer and I don’t want heavy concealer under the eyes at the beach. Not a cute look.
I define my brows with my Benefit Ka Brow in Shade 02 because it’s water-resistant and holds them in place through a tsunami. Then I use my favorite quick eye makeup product – Charlotte Tilbury Color Chameleon in Amber Haze on the top and lower lash line. Smudge with your ring finger.
Taking my favorite purchase of 2017 (I think…), the by Terry Savannah Love palette, I pick up the peach shade on the bronzer side with a fluffy eyeshadow blending brush and run it through my crease to help blend the Charlotte Tilbury stick. Then grab a fluffy blush brush and mix the bronze shades together all over the face (ok… not ALL over, but definitely on the hairline, cheeks, tip of the nose and jawline). Using the same brush, I swirl the blush shades together and pop that on my cheeks just behind the apples and up towards the temples.
For lips, a swipe of MAC’s Lipglass in Beaux (now sold at ULTA!) and finish off the entire look with a heavy application of your favorite mascara – I used Chanel Le Volume de Chanel because it packs the biggest punch in one coat, but you may prefer a waterproof formula for summertime (try L’Oreal Lash Paradise in waterproof… super awesome).
