Do you feel like even tinted moisturizers are too heavy or you don’t like the feeling of something sitting on your face, but wish you could have that extra bit of skin-perfection? Or are you of the more-is-more train of thought, need a full coverage foundation but don’t want everyone in a 50-foot radius to see you’re wearing makeup? I come bearing wonderful news for both with the launch of new Glossier and Charlotte Tilbury foundations!
It’s no secret that I’m a beauty product junkie. It started early – when I was five watching my mom apply the iconic gold metal tube of Estee Lauder lipstick (wow, looks a lot like the Charlotte Tilbury tubes, huh?). As I got older – and before YouTube and blogs – I loved spending hours perusing the skincare and cosmetic aisles of CVS, reading every product’s claims and trying all the new display items. Once I started working and could splurge on higher end makeup, my first eyeshadow was a lime green metallic shade from Urban Decay at Sephora when I was 16. …And so it goes…
Over time, I’ve learned that as much as I love a good high-end product for its quality and typically nicer packaging, there are certain categories of makeup that perform just as well from the drugstore than their high-end counterparts. When I have friends ask what is worth the splurge versus where they can save a few bucks on their makeup collection, this is how I break it down…
This horrifying revelation came to me earlier this week when I followed Bobbi Brown’s 5-10 minute makeup routine from her Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual and it instructed me to apply eyeshadow without my usual eye primer. “Hm, ok,” I thought, “this will not end well.” I have used an eye primer under eye shadow since 2007 when a Sephora makeup artist introduced me to TooFaced Shadow Insurance. My life was forever changed.
If you don’t bother with eye makeup because it evaporates into thin air within a few hours, this post is for you.
If you don’t understand why $50+ eyeshadow palettes don’t seem to show up on your face like they do on your hand in the store, this post is for you.
If you think all drugstore eye makeup is garbage because it doesn’t show up at all, this post is for you.
If you feel like your eye makeup is always smudging – especially in the summer – this post is for you.
If you already love eye primer and want to know my favorites, this post is for you, too. 😉
Sephora has two major sales throughout the year – one around November, where VIBs get 20% off their entire purchase(s) for about 3-4 days and again in April, where VIBs get 15% off for about 3-4 days. If you’re a VIB Rouge, the sale has already started for you, and you get 15% off your purchases in store or online through 4/21. If you’re just a regular Beauty Insider, you’ll get 10% off from 4/17-4/20.
This year’s VIB sale starts today (!!!), 4/16 through 4/21. My cart has been stocked, restocked and it’s ready to pull the trigger as soon as the clock strikes 12. Let’s discuss my Sephora April VIB Sale wish list and recommendations that won’t disappoint…
About a week ago, I was fortunate enough to be invited to meet with the goddess herself, Charlotte Tilbury, along with an intimate group of wonderful press and fellow bloggers in Houston. This event was akin to meeting Santa for the first time and waking up on Christmas morning to makeup, sparkles and happiness everywhere.
We had the opportunity to play with Charlotte’s entire collection, as well as, some items yet to be launched in the United States. Naturally, I left with quite a bit of items to play with and test over the past few days (more to come on that). For now, I wanted to share with you some of the tidbits I learned from Charlotte about her products, brand, and passion for beauty. More meeting Charlotte Tilbury after the jump!
